OC Zine Fest features zine creators, some who are debuting new works in their expansive zine collection.

This 7th annual special event will be online and will include workshops, digital readings, discussions, studio tours, and more. Zinesters can participate by watching on the OC Zine Fest Instagram

The month-long celebration culminates in a full day of live YouTube programs, starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22.

  • 11:00 a.m. - How to Make a Mini Zine (Bilingual) with Gloria Almanza of Flores Couture
  • 12:00 p.m. - 5-Step Process for Transforming Difficult Emotions into Powerful Creative Expression with Kundan Chabbra
  • 1:00 p.m. - Zine & Meet Live and Online! with Iggy and Aaron from Dark Earth Publishing
    • Zine and Meet is the pre-pandemic meet and greet for zinesters, now online and safe! Come by and meet fellow zinesters you may not have known before. Bring your unfinished zines to work on, your already made zines to show off, and yourself! We will be sharing ideas, making connections and friendships, and working together. It will be fun

  • 2:00 p.m. - Collaborative Zine Making with Pete Nguyen and Joyce Han
    • Collaborative creation of a zine can create amazing results. Come learn how a writer and artist can come together to create a zine about racism towards Asians during the pandemic. Through our experience, we hope to inspire others to comfortably seek out collaboration opportunities to make zines.

  • 3:00 p.m. - BIPOC Panel for Teaching/Sharing Our Art/Creativity Process led by Kundan Chabbra
  • 4:00 p.m. - One Way to Self-Publish Comics with Pete Nguyen
    • Self-publishing comics can be a daunting task. Discover my method on how I create comics from the idea phase all the way to self-publication. I will share the programs I used for each stage, as well as the pitfalls I discovered, to show that self-publishing comics is much easier if you have a plan.
